A while back a good friend called me and asked me if I’d signed the Manhattan Declaration. I told her that I had seen it, but made it a habit of signing nothing on the web inasmuch as one’s name could be used and the balance of what you signed could be changed and/or your name and address could be collected for future letters requesting donations. At any rate, it got me to thinking about all the things I’d seen on the web that were allegedly efforts to save the Republic, but in reality, were worthless and a total waste of time as well as money and simply “feel good” efforts. Let’s take a look at two of these and see who is really behind them.
A.K. Chesterton once said, “The proper study of political mankind is the study of power elites, without which nothing that happens could be understood.” Thus, the reason for this article.
The Manhattan Declaration was drafted and signed in Oct/Nov 2009. It was originally conceived by three men: Timothy George, Robert George, and Chuck Colson (Catholics and Evangelicals together). This is the old dialectical process at work again in utilizing unity and setting aside theological and doctrinal differences to find common ground.
Timothy George is the Founding Dean of Beeson Divinity School, which belongs to the Rockefeller-funded Association of Theological Schools. He serves as executive editor for Christianity Today (Billy Graham). He is a Founding Fellow of the Research Institute of the Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission (ERLC). The ERLC is an NGO (non-governmental organization) of the United Nations. He is a Calvinist who dialogues with the Roman Catholic Church.
Robert George, (Council on Foreign Relations member) who poses as a conservative Christian while serving UNESCO and the CFR’s agenda, has found common ground with Dr. Al Mohler who also poses as a conservative Christian and who also serves the UN agenda.
As an aside, Karl Rove, Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia, and Newt Gingrich think highly of Robert George. Glenn Beck, of Fox News is a big Robert George fan and introduces him as ‘one of the biggest brains in America’ or on one broadcast, ‘Superman of the Earth.’ Glenn has never criticized George’s membership in the CFR, probably because his boss, Rupert Murdoch is also a CFR member.
Among the signers of the document are, Dr. R. Albert Mohler, President of the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary,(who heads two UN-NGOs) Chuck Colson (on the drafting committee), Prison Fellowship International, a UN-NGO; Don Wildmon of American Family Association, a UN-NGO; James Dobson of Focus on the Family, a UN-NGO; Tony Perkins of Family Research Council, a UN-NGO; and representatives from the United Methodist Church, UN-NGO; as well as Roman Catholic Bishops and organizations, and the Holy See has non-member State Permanent Observer status at the United Nations. Dr. Mohler who is the founding fellow of Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission (ERLC) of the Southern Baptist Convention as well as being a board member of Focus on the Family, and these other signers who are NGO’s of the UN are committed to the UN’s agenda. Dr. Mohler’s superior at the ERLC, Richard Land, is also a CFR member. To be granted NGO status, they must agree with the UN and its one-world agenda. Dr. Mohler states on his website all the reasons for the Manhattan Declaration, all of which sound profoundly pro-life and pro-family. However, the UN is the foremost promoter today of population control on the planet. The eugenics movement in America in the early 1920’s was social Darwinism and was to eliminate the less desirable in our population and promote the elite. This early form of eugenics is now population control throughout the world conducted by the same elite families involved in the 1920s eugenics. See my article, “It Has Nothing To Do With Healthcare.”
Don Wildmon of American Family Association (AFA) is a long time member of the secretive Council for National Policy and CNP Board of Governors. He has recently stepped down because of his long illness but was President of the Coalition for Better Television, Founder of the National Federation for Decency, and a member of the Advisory Board of the Moon-affiliated Christian Voice, as well as a member of the Steering Committee of Coalition on Revival (COR). It is a revival of old testament law under the guise of Reconstructionism/Dominionism and was started by Jay Grimstead. Information on COR can be found here. Although AFA does send out some excellent informative posts, the connections to the CNP, Moon, and COR are extremely troubling.
James Dobson and Tony Perkins of Focus on the Family and Family Research Council are both members of the secretive Council for National Policy. The CNP was started in 1981 by Nelson Bunker Hunt, Pat Robertson, Tim LaHaye, (who accepted millions from Sun Myung Moon who claims he came to finish what Jesus started) and T. Cullen Davis who helped fund the CNP to get it off the ground. T. Cullen Davis was tried for murder not once, but twice. The Council for National Policy was started allegedly to counter the workings of the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR), yet there were five CFR members on the early membership rosters of the CNP.
As for Chuck Colson, Richard Land of the ERLC of the Southern Baptist Convention, and representatives from the United Methodist Church, as well as the above mentioned people, the purpose of this document smells way too much like the dialectical process utilizing ecumenical unity. The creation of a one-world religion is a common goal and setting aside theological differences to find common ground on life, family, and liberty can very well lead to a one-world religion meld. This is a thoroughly deceitful document that in practice will deceive many well-meaning Christians.
One has to ask, how can these Manhattan Declaration signers oppose the depopulation agenda while they are leaders of the UN-NGO’s dedicated to the UN’s agenda? Since the UN and the CFR are fully dedicated to a one-world government (David Rockefeller is the Honorary Chairman of the CFR) and since both organizations are dedicated to the destruction of U.S. sovereignty and biblical Christianity, why would anyone believe that those who serve the UN and UNESCO, and are members of the CFR would be conservative Christians?
The Declaration also appears to be a version of “reclaiming America” and reforming and rebuilding the culture which all sounds great, right? However, within the section on marriage it states, “…if we are to begin the critically important process of reforming our laws and mores to rebuild such a culture…”. The Southern Baptist Convention has been transitioning to Calvinism for years and it appears that Dr. Mohler is a Calvinist and Dominionist. Several other signers are of the same ilk, Joel Betz and Marvin Olasky (World Magazine), Dr. Robert C. Cannada, Jr. (Reformed Theological Seminary), Ligon Duncan (President, Alliance of Confessing Evangelicals), William Edgar (Westminster Theological Seminary), J.I. Packer (Regent College), Jerry Newcombe (Coral Ridge Ministries).
For Biblical clarification, see II Corinthians 6:14-18. We are called to separate ourselves from even professing Christians who are deceived by apostasy and ally themselves with it. If the clear command of God is for His people to “have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them,” (Ephesians 5:11) then the evangelicals in view here are being disobedient. We cannot align ourselves with those who support apostasy, nor the United Nations for heaven’s sake, one of the most apostate organizations in the world! See also II Thessalonians 3:6.
This pledge lays out very broad principles for constitutional conservatism and is being advertised on most conservative websites. It is allegedly a tribute to small government and the founding fathers. The pledge has over 80 signers including movement leaders, veteran activists and some insider heavyweights. The most prominent backers are David Keene (The American Conservative Union) and Grover Norquist (Americans for Tax Reform). Both are also CPAC chairman and CPAC board member and partners in the Constitution Project.
Keene served as special assistant to former vice-president Agnew, he backed Mitt Romney in the 2008 primary, and as late as 2008 funded liberal Republican (now Democrat) Arlen Specter $2000. He was also National Political Director for George H.W. Bush’s unsuccessful 1980 presidential campaign, as well as an adviser to Senator Robert Dole’s 1988 and 1996 presidential campaigns.
Keene’s American Conservative Union has several Council for National Policy (CNP) members on its board including Morton Blackwell, Tom Delay, Grover Norquist and Alan Gottlieb.
As for Grover Norquist, (CNP) he is a founder and board member of the Islamic Institute (which operated out of his offices), apparently laundered money for his buddy Jack Abramoff, and at Islamic Institute (which operated out of Abramoff’s offices), he employed Khalid Saffuri, a funder of “the martyrs,” and he adopted HAMAS homicide bombers’ families and funded them. Norquist and Islamic Institute accepted cash from several “charities” which laundered money that ended up in the hands of Al-Qaeda. He got a top Bush white house job for another Muslim whose father twice brought Al-Qaeda top honchos into the country to raise money for Al-Qaeda. Norquist married a Muslim woman in 2005 and is purported to now have converted to Islam himself. He is also a board member of NRA. For part two click below.
Keene and Norquist’s views on national security and immigration enforcement are certainly not conservative. Both support the Obama/Democrat majority approach of civilian trials for terrorists, and Norquist supports open borders and dangerous pandering to Muslim grievances. Neither of these men represent conservative ideals as far as I’m concerned.
Other signers of the Mt. Vernon Pledge include again, Tony Perkins of Family Research Council, Brent Bozell, of Media Research Center, and Edwin Fuelner, President of Heritage Foundation, all CNP members. See Chey Simonton’s article “The Rockefeller/Heritage Connection”
Tony Perkins of Family Research Council, the political arm of Dobson’s Focus on the Family, pushes vouchers and charter schools. The Vaughn Next Century Learning Center, represented by Dr. Yvonne Chan, whose highly acclaimed school receives additional GOALS 2000 money appeared in Nov. of 97 at the Manhattan Institute’s CCI Public Charter Schools Forum sponsored by the Citicorp Foundation. The Vaughn School was used as an example of a high-success charter school in the 96 Focus on the Family radio broadcast where Dobson interviewed NCSL’s (National Council for State Legislators) Connie Koprowicz on Charter Schools, again casting them in a most favorable light. L. Brent Bozell, Jr. was William Buckley’s [CFR] Yale classmate and brother-in-law, who also wrote foreign policy speeches for Senator Joe McCarthy. L. Brent Bozell III (CNP like his father) is president of Media Research Center. A close associate of the late Terry Dolan (CNP), the closeted gay founder of the National Conservative Political Action Committee, Bozell, Jr. served for several years as the Dolan organization’s finance chairman and president. Bozell himself states that contrary to popular belief he is not a republican.
Last, but certainly not least of those backing the pledge is Edwin J. Feulner, president of Heritage Foundation. Feulner is a charter member of the Council for National Policy as was the co-founder of Heritage, Paul Weyrich, along with another CNP member, Joseph Coors and Richard Mellon Scaife, heir of the Carnegie-Mellon fortune. (Weyrich died in December of 2008 from complications from a fall and diabetes. He was 66 years old.) There were other financiers of Heritage, Amoco, General Motors, Chase Manhattan Bank (through David Rockefeller) and Olin and Bradley, a right-wing foundation. Weyrich was the original president of Heritage until 1974 when he founded his own organization, Free Congress Foundation. Feulner was recruited in 1977 by Richard Mellon Scaife to become Heritage president. One must remember that Scaife funds both sides of the aisle and is connected to Rockefeller (Chase Mellon Bank). Scaife originally funded Heritage to the tune of $900,000. He has allegedly funded ALEC to the tune of more than 7 million dollars.
Heritage was referred to as a “shadow government,” which is of interest because of an article Weyrich wrote. He was also founder of ALEC (American Legislative Exchange Council which writes many of the bills for state legislatures). The danger in the ALEC organization is that its leadership apparently wants to rewrite our Constitution and they claim a membership of 2,500 plus of our 7,500 legislators. Members of ALEC include the Church of Scientology. One must also remember that Heritage endorsed NAFTA and GATT/WTO. In an article Weyrich wrote titled, “A Conservative’s Lament,” in the Washington Post March 8, 1987, he stated,
“Our national strategy is outdated, dysfunctional and insupportable …It is time for a new national grand strategy…There is a basic contradiction between the structure of our government (The Constitution) and our role as a great power. Our government was designed not to play great power politics, but to preserve domestic liberty. Our current system institutionalizes amateurism. Unlike European parliamentary democracies, we have no “shadow cabinet,” no group of experts who are groomed by their party for decades before they take office. If we are going to be a serious nation, we need a serious system…we need some type of shadow government.”
Certainly he was aware of the Council on Foreign Relations which member’s today occupy approximately five hundred positions in the federal branch of our government. After all, as mentioned above, the Council for National Policy’s original membership roster contained five CFR members. You would think that would be enough “shadow government” for Weyrich. Like fellow CNP member Don Wildmon, Weyrich was a Dominionist believing in a theonomy and old testament law as law of the land. He was a Melkite Greek Catholic.
Many ideas of Weyrich’s for a second American Revolution alarmed Christian groups who started looking into his background. What they found was shocking. First let’s look at Paul Weyrich’s ties to Nazi collaborators and neo-fascist organizations (many of which seem to tie into the CIA).
In the 1970s, Weyrich and Coors made appointments and set up political contacts on Capitol Hill for one Franz Joseph Strauss, Bavarian head of state who helped émigré Nazi collaborators.
Another fascist, Roger Pearson, writer and organizer for the Nazi Northern League of northern Europe joined the editorial board of Policy Review (Heritage’s monthly publication) in 1977.
Pearson’s racialist theories are still circulated worldwide by neo-Nazi and white supremacist organizations. Pearson was actually brought to the U.S. in 1965 by Willis Carton, founder of the neo-fascist Institute for Historical Review (which denies the Holocaust) and the anti-Semitic Liberty Lobby which published the weekly Spotlight newspaper. Another Nazi whom Weyrich sponsored and worked closed with is Laszlo Pasztor, a convicted Austrian Nazi collaborator whose Coalitions of the Americas was housed as a subsidiary in the Free Congress Foundation, the political arm of Heritage. Pasztor was Weyrich’s right hand man and a former leader of the pro-Nazi Arrow Cross organization in Hungary which had collaborated with Hitler’s Reich. He only spent two years in prison for his Arrow Cross activities before coming to the U.S.
There was also a connection between Heritage and the Rev. Sun Myung Moon (founder of the Moonies). A report by the 1975 congressional investigation on the Korean CIA (KCIA) activities in the U.S. stated,”In 1975, Ed Feulner was introduced to KCIA chief Kim Yung Hwan by Neil Salonen and Dan Feffernan of the Freedom Leadership Foundation.” Salonen was head of Sun Myung Moon’s Unification Church in the U.S. The Freedom Leadership Foundation (FLF), a political arm of Moon’s Unification network, was linked to the fascist World Anti-Communist League. In the early 1980s, the KCIA began making donations to Heritage and in turn Heritage established an Asian Studies Center. Heritage and Feulner have actively promoted trade and other policies with Taiwan and South Korea. It is of importance to note that for decades the Moon owned Washington Times has had failing income and has been allegedly funded by the KCIA. In 1977, also note that Paul Weyrich co-founded Christian Voice with Robert Grant, (now deceased) head of American Freedom Coalition (and charter member of the Council for National Policy).
Grant’s organization was a Moon front group. Also, two years later, with Jerry Falwell (charter member of the CNP), Weyrich, founded the Moral Majority and coined that same phrase. It was in response to Moon’s tax evasion charges against his “church,” which led the various “Christian” organizations within the CNP to create a new group that would have massive outreach to grassroot Christians and churches. Falwell stated, “Christians, like slaves and soldiers, ask no questions.” Oh yeah Jerry? Some of us asked a lot of questions and found out the truth.
Heritage also has communist connections, established rapidly after the historic meeting between Reagan and Mikhail Gorbachev at the Geneva Summit. Feulner was appointed by Reagan as chairman of the U.S. Advisory Commission on Public Diplomacy. The commission was responsible for expediting a signed Soviet-American Educational Exchange Agreement. (See Charlotte Iserbyt’s Deliberate Dumbing Down of America). At the same time, note that Weyrich once served as advisor to former Russian President Boris Yeltsin.
Both Feulner and Weyrich were also involved with other powerful players and shadowy figures, some from the right and some from the left. They have been included in groups formed to reinvent the UN, supposedly to face the 21st century. In fact it is becoming more and more evident that Weyrich and Feulner were in fact organizing a tight group that represented the merger of right and left, which we have seen over the last 50 years. Feulner carries on as Heritage president.
Can the Republic be saved? Are other efforts futile? What will work to turn around 150 or more years of destruction of liberty and freedom? Prayer is number one. We’ll discuss what is futile and what is worthwhile in Part III.
Remember too, “A false friend is more dangerous than an open enemy.”
